Lepidolite Mica (610)

A large and very beautiful piece of Lepidolite Mica. It is an uncommon mica and is an ore of lithium. It forms in granitic masses that have a substantial amount of lithium, this content does vary greatly however and low lithium lepidolite is nearly useless as an ore. The typical violet to pink color of lepidolite is the main characteristic and is the field test used to identify lepidolite from other micas. KLi2Al(Al,Si)3O10(F,OH)2, Potassium lithium aluminum silicate hydroxide fluoride.
