Apophyllite (622)
(K,Na)Ca4Si8O20(F,OH) - 8H2O, Hydrated Potassium Calcium Sodium Silicate Fluoride Hydroxide.
Apophyllite, whose name means "to leaf apart" in Greek, is a mineral classic. It gets its name because crystals tend to peel or flake apart when heated, due to the loss of water molecules. Not that well-known by the public, it is quite popular among mineral collectors. It will probably be the first exotic mineral that many a collector will own after starting off with more standard specimens. After these common minerals, apophyllite seems like a real exotic rarity and it can offer so much to the collector.
This is a really good piece with well defined crystals
